Published in Revue du Nickel no. 1 (Paris: Prager Kreis, 1994). Sanguinetti is referring to John Bok, a political activist who was hounded by State security in Czechoslovakia in the 1970s and 1980s, became head of Havel’s security team and after the Velvet Revolution worked in the Office for the Protection of the Constitution and Democracy and the FBIS. Part of a loose circle of agitators and contrarians in Prague that formed around Sanguinetti, Bok set up an “HQ” in the toilets of the celebrated Prague discothèque, Radost, which hosted political and poetic provocations, many benefitting from Sanguinetti’s talent for bringing theory and action together. The RBL Collection and Archive has a number of draft manuscripts and collages from this time, including a cover for Sanguinetti’s Hospice for the Rehabilitation of Statesmen. Sanguinetti and Susin imagined several book projects drawing on this material: The Books I Did Not Write, or Catalog of Books That Have Never Been Made.
